Jim Morrison
Once destined to become a biologist, and having dabbled in Interior and Landscape design, Jim's path took an unexpected turn at an introduction of digital design tools by a friend in 1996, at 18 years of age.
Previously having only tinkered with gaming and been subjected to the endless squealing dial-up modems, he was immediately inspired, taken in by the endless freedom of possibilities within the digital realm. Enrolling the same month, he completed a Bachelor degree in Design Studies at the University of Otago, New Zealand, his homeland, focusing on Graphic design & Animation. But essentially, what he was taught was the skills of visual problem solving.
Following 2 years of further study at RMIT, Melbourne & internship in the internet branch, Jim returned to Massey university Wellington to further his education in Web & Motion design. Web related employment in London & Vancouver the following years, brought him closer to Germany & working for brands such as John deer, Roche, BASF, Gameforge and more recently as a visual interface designer in the User Experience unit at SAP, Walldorf. Interaction, Graphic design, Branding, User interface, HTML/CSS, Information architecture, Usability & Testing; these are the elements making up his career to date & they come together to form 'User Experience' (abbreviated as UX) when applied to online, mobile & software products.
Regardless of production processes, a digital products success still hinges on just one thing: how users perceive it. “Does this website give me value? Is it easy to use? Is it pleasant to use?” These are the questions that run through the minds of visitors as they interact with online products, and they form the basis of their decisions on whether to become regular users.
This is the value Jim's insight & abilities brings to Netzstrategen, providing solid User Experience strategies for our partners.
